I have had an interest in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, as well as other aspects of atomic/nuclear weapons, for many years. With this year (2020) marking the 75th anniversary of the bombings, it’s as important as ever for people to remain aware not just of these bombings but also about the significance of nuclear weapons, as I have written about in another post. I was particularly interested, therefore, to read Hiroshima-75 earlier this year. My review of Hiroshima-75: Nuclear Issues in Global Contexts, edited by Aya Fujiwara and David R. Marples (Stuttgart: Ibidem, 2020, pp.307, ISBN 9783838213989) has been published on the Electronic Journal of Contemporary Japanese Studies website.
