Photographing the Shinkansen: Mishima Station

Having mentioned how you can photograph the shinkansen at Atami in a recent post, this post covers the next station west along the Tokaido Shinkansen, Mishima.

There are two key things about Mishima station from a photography point of view. First, is that it is the only shinkansen station with an island platform with the passing lines on the outside. In other words, if you are taking pictures when there is a station at the platform, you will need to be at one of the ends of the platform or you won’t be able to see the passing train. Second, it is possible to see Mount Fuji from the platform so you can get shots of the shinkansen and Mount Fuji.
