Favourite Photos: Godzilla in Shinjuku

On some days I just do a short post that primarily revolves around a favourite photo without much accompanying text.

This picture was taken during a trip to Shinjuku, Tokyo, in 2018.

I was in Japan for a conference related to Contents Tourism – which would ultimately lead to my chapters Contents Tourism in Plane Sight and コンテンツツーリズム・イン・プレインサイト-聖地として航空機

Although I went into Shinjuku a couple of times during that short trip, and took many photos around this area, including more close-up shots of the main character in the above photo, this one is my favourite as Shinjuku just looks so good at night, and I also like the way the people appear are protecting themselves from what is above – albeit the (invisible) rain than Godzilla.

Just for note, I’m not particularly a fan of any of the Godzilla films, but I sometimes refer to the 1998 version as it contains a scene which has a nice link to the Daigo Fukuryumaru incident.
