On some days I just do a short post that primarily revolves around a favourite photo without much accompanying text.
This picture was taken during a trip to Japan in 2013. It is a view of the Oyodo River (王淀川) in Miyazaki (宮崎).

The picture is one of a series of pictures that I took that evening. Even in this one you can just make out some people (in the bottom right corner) cycling along by the river, but in a later picture there were a gaggle of people playing by the river, beautifully silhouetted by the golden river…

It was a combination of these two pictures in particular that inspired part of the storyline in my novel FOUR, which has one part of the story set in Miyazaki.
