N700 Shinkansen Model – Owning a part of an actual shinkansen

Through the nature of my work, I have been involved in a variety of media and translation projects over the years. One that I did recently was for the company Icarus which makes models and other products out of the actual thing that they are modelling. You can find out more information about the company here: https://icarusoriginals.com/about-us/

The project that I got involved with was for their N700 Shinkansen range. My role, based on my research about the shinkansen, was to write the text that comes with the product – both the English and Japanese versions.

As you can see, the model, including the packaging, is done to a very high standard.

When I put together a ranking of all of the shinkansen series, I grouped the various N700 designs (N700, N700A, N700S) together and it came in at 6th in my list, as you can read in the post about the N700 series. As I wrote in that post, the gap between 4th, 5th, and 6th is very small, and thanks to two factors, I could see the N700 moving up to 4th already. First, my connection to the series thanks to this model helps. Second, recently JR Kyushu unveiled the N700 series (an N700S) to be used on the West Kyushu Shinkansen. As you can see from the picture below, it looks absolutely stunning.

Back to the Icarus product, the model looks absolutely brilliant and it’s lovely to know that it’s made from an actual N700 shinkansen (that Icarus is based in my furusato of Shrewsbury is the icing on the cake). The cufflinks also look great. Be sure to visit the Icarus page: https://icarusoriginals.com/original-icons/locomotive-icons/n700-shinkansen/

I have also got a Boeing 747 model made by Icarus as I have written about in another post.
