Today – 13 February 2022 (although it will continue to 14 February in the UK) – will be an emotional day. I still can’t believe what is happening. For the first time in over 30 years, and only the second time since I started supporting them in 1984, the Cincinnati Bengals are in the Super Bowl. It’s been such a trip to get here, a trip where getting to the Super Bowl again never seemed likely – least of all this season. Until the last few weeks, anyway. And this time, I really do feel that there is a chance that we could win this thing for the first time.
As much as possible, I’m trying to enjoy the ride; taking in the various things on social media, listening to the latest podcast from Cincinnater – but everything is so much more intense than the last time we were in the Super Bowl. If I am this nervous now, I cannot imagine what the game will be like. I cannot imagine what it will be like for the players.
As in the previous three games, I just can’t predict a score line (and won’t for good omen reasons). Let’s just hope we can enjoy the game and the result.
