Favourite Photos: Genbaku Dome

On some days I just do a short post that primarily revolves around a favourite photo without much accompanying text.

This picture was taken during trip to Hiroshima in 2013.

I chose this image as my mind is focussed on Hiroshima, and other nuclear issues, due to attending a conference at the University of Cologne on “Hiroshima – Nagasaki – Fukushima: Articulations of the Nuclear”, see Splitting Atomic Symbolism: Differing Words, Images, and Sounds of a Nuclear World for details of my paper (in which this image also appears). The above photograph is one that I have previously used as the background for the title slide for a paper that I have given about the bombing, see In the Shadow of the Mushroom Cloud: 75 years since the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (also see In the Shadow of the Mushroom Cloud: 75 Years since the Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki which contains more details about the paper). I also used a similar picture in Japan: The Basics, also see Photos in “Japan: The Basics”.
